It's been a longtime favorite toy and she is now 8! This camera has not changed much from the version we have.The camera is sized really well for little hands, they can grip on the rubber handles on either side. Instead of having a single viewfinder like typical cameras, this one has two - so the child looks through with both eyes, eliminating the need to squint through a single eyehole. The camera itself is okay, 1.3 megapixels is enough to take some viewable pictures, but it does poorly in low light conditions (which is a lot of places). This never bothered my kids. What makes this camera a hit is the games on it. You can take a picture, then play games with that picture - it makes the picture into a puzzle, you have to rotate the pieces to fit it back together. If you're looking at this camera, note that Vtech has a 2MP version of their Kidzoom Digital Camera that is called [[ASIN:B0050PJIPS Vtech - Kidizoom Spin & Smile Digital Camera] on Amazon's website.]It comes in Blue and Pink. vTech's website calls the upgraded one the "Kidizoom Digital Camera Plus". While it's list price is $20 higher, it's now selling on Amazon for less than the first generation camera in this review. That is, at least at the time that I write this review. I got this for him for Christmas. The girls I nanny for have a pink one and my son doesn't care about the color, he just loves that it's a camera he is allowed to play with. I bought the orange one for him. He is young but already knows how to use it better than I do. It is very durable for a 2 year old, believe me he has dropped the girls' so many times and it's still as good as new! |
